It is pretty hard to deny that the iPad is the granddaddy of all the tablets on sale at the moment. It is what started the tablet craze, and it is still the best selling (and one of the priciest) on the market today. When the iPad 2 was released in early 2011, there were a lot of people who were excited about it, and naturally, the announcement turned into a sort of party like the iPhone’s.
Now it seems that there has been a leak in the information from Apple saying that we can expect the iPad 3 to hit shelves starting in March. A March 2012 release date would line up perfectly with the typical life that a new Apple product has, as the iPad 2 was released around that time in 2011.
iPad 3 to have More Competition
The source of this leaked information said that Apple is acknowledging the rising amount of competition that the iPad has in the tablet market, and they are looking to keep their number one spot in the market secure with the iPad 3. So then, the obvious question here to ask is what the iPad 3 is going to ship with that will make it such an enticing purchase for consumers? The iPad 3 is rumored to have a high-definition screen that will be a vast improvement on the previous iPad models, at double the current resolution.
More importantly, the iPad 3 is going to have a more powerful processor than the iPad 2. This will more than likely be the Apple A6 processor, which will be the chip to replace the A5, found in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. The Apple A6 is important because it is probably what will be powering the iPhone 5, so we can use it as a glimpse into the future to see how powerful the iPhone 5 will be.
If we get our wishes, it will indeed have four cores as well. And don’t forget about the selling point for the iPhone 4S, as you should expect the next-gen tablet to come packing Siri support as well. We’re getting closer and closer to Apple making their official unveiling onstage, and this time it will be Tim Cook in place of the late Steve Jobs.
