When we think of tablets we usually think of something that fills in the void of a smartphone and a laptop, so the size of the tablet should reflect this corner of the market. While this is the normal case for most tablets, a Turkish company by the name of Ardic Technology thinks that there is really no reason why there shouldn’t be a 65” tablet, about the same size of a large TV.

We should say right away that this isn’t a tablet in its own right. It actually utilizes the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, and without one of those it would not work at all. You have to essentially plug in your Samsung Galaxy Tab into what appears to be a gigantic TV, and then you are ready to go! So one would naturally ask, what separates it from any other television?

Well there are actually several differences, but the most important one of them is the fact that it is a touchscreen compatible, which really does make it nothing more than a giant Samsung Galaxy.

How Does This 65″ Tablet Work?

The touchscreen is supported by two sensors that feed information from the screen to the tablet. In its current phase the giant tablet can only handle some of the more simple movements like swiping, or pinching to resize things. But Ardic Technology is adamant that when they perfect this over gown tablet, they are going to support all the ranges of motion that a normal tablet does.

However, even in its early stages of development it is extremely impressive. You can watch a tutorial video of one of the developers playing a game on it (Fruit Slice), and in it you can see that the screen supporting the tablet responds incredibly well and quickly to any input.

Although many people will argue that this is a needlessly wasteful piece of technology, you have to admit that it is impressive!  Tuck this baby into the business world and bye bye clickers and mice.
