More and more people are switching from desktop to laptops and even to tablets as their device of choice and that’s no surprise, given the fact that consumers are looking for something increasingly portable. Some of the biggest leaders in the race as king of laptops have been around for decades including HP, Dell, Apple and IBM. Apple is one of the few companies that’s been able to both capture the tablet market all while maintaining shockingly high sales of their Macbook Airs and Pros.
However it now seems that Dell is looking to take Apple head on with their own ultra slim laptop.
The Dell Vostro V131’s sleek design and long battery life is just some of the things that makes it eye catching. The V131 test unit has 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 7200 rpm drive and pacts a super fast Intel Core i5-2410 CPU. At $800 its low price gets buyers hook, line, and sinker.
The V131 comes with a Chiclet-style keyboard that’s so smooth that it apparently “almost feels like [you're typing] water”. Not to mention the layout has no undersized keys and the touchpad is outlined in chrome trim.
However despite some pretty impressive specs, it is not entirely perfect. At 4.1 pounds, it’s a bit on the heavy side, a fact that earned its title as an ultramobile rather than ultralight as well. It may not be a Macbook Air, but the V131 is better than the average laptop and it boasts a great design.
What makes this ultraslim laptop even more enticing is its nice input ergonomics that show off their futuristic two USB 3.0 ports and for a mere $800 like we mentioned above, it’s definitely a great buy!
