Every time you need to sign a document, you’re required to go through the mundane task of reading the email, downloading the attachment, printing the document, signing your signature, scanning and emailing back, or worse yet; dealing with the old fax machine that never wants to cooperate. Let’s not even get started on how virtually out-of-date using snail mail is; and how you’re always out of stamps.
Wouldn’t it be so much easier if you could digitally sign a document, and still have your e-signature hold some weight behind it? A new application called DocuSign Ink wants to streamline the process (on any device), making “your signature more powerful in the cloud.”
Drag, Drop, Sign, Send
The application works by opening your document, allowing you to input your signature, and sending it back. There’s two ways in which the app imports documents, with the first being – using an app that supports the “open in” function and the second by taking a screenshot, or “capture” of the document by using the applications capture feature. You will then need to hit the signature button which gives you a slew of options that you can drag where you want it to display, which will then bring you to a prompt to either draw out your initials, signature, date etc with your finger.
It gets better though, after you have successfully affixed your signature, DocuSign Ink does all the elbow work by creating the email and attaching your document to it; all you need to do is input the recipients email address and you’re good to go. The app is 100% secure, and the “open in” function is commonly associated with programs like Documents To Go, Safari, Dropbox and more. The company’s website also outlines further, with videos and instructions on Outlook, eMail, and has a convenient FAQ section to address additional questions and concerns.
The best part about this application is that it is free to use, and you can even use the technology if the recipient you’re sending the document to doesn’t have or use DocuSign Ink. Quickly open any document extension (PDF, JPG, etc.), sign and send; it’s that easy!
