If you don’t know what we’re referring to with the ‘Google Glasses’ then you definitely in for an awesome surprise. Back in December, some rumors leaked that Google was working on a top secret project and that it involved the development of high-tech eyeglasses with navigational capabilities. Like most people, we brushed this off as a ludicrous rumor and pure speculation, but it seems like its not joke to the Mountain View-based company. According to various sources, the glasses will have on-board hardware with Android built right into it, a front facing camera and the ability to sync and operate your smartphone with the glasses. This would essentially remove the necessity to keep looking down to use your smartphone and is definitely a page out of a sci-fi novel for most people reading this right now.

Google Glasses Could Be Navigated Via Voice Control or Head Movement

Some anonymous tipsters apparently working close to the Google eyeglass project claim that they won’t be too practical for day-to-day use since they won’t be fully transparent, but that its user-interface is what’s going to make it a huge hit. Apparently, the glasses will work via voice control or by head-movement, with different angles of a head tilt meaning different things. Just make sure that you don’t get too many weird looks in the street when walking around bobbing your head at awkward angles with a massive smile on your face.

The same report went on to say that some other sources claim that the device will be 3G/4G capable, and that it will feature all the basics including GPS locating, Google Maps and a small display close to the eye allowing you to see what’s going on in front of you.

Will Feature A Camera, GPS & 3G/4G, Among Other Features

The New York Times recently followed up on this strange but captivating gadget and found out that the device could be on sale as early as this year and that it will be price at around $250-600. It’s definitely something unique and unexpected and whether something like this will take off depends on numerous factors including it’s usability, Google’s marketing and what styles they will be offered in, among many others. Most analysts agree that these glasses will either be a bust or huge success, but they also agree that there is far too little information to make an estimation about how they’ll do.
