Recently Google, Apple and a handful of other Silicon Valley companies have been put under investigation by the Justice Department for putting up a “no-poaching” rule for current and past employees. That is the enforcing a rule where the companies in agreement do not undermine one another’s employees by offering them higher pays and thus creating an unnecessary bidding war between them.
Since there is so much value put on the employees in each of these companies, especially in senior/executive positions, it would actually make sense if they did it, although it would still be illegal to do so.
Google Violates Pact Between Silicon Valley Companies & Hires Apple Senior Director
Assuming this poaching rule is true, it seems as though it has just been violated as Google has now ‘stolen’ a Senior Director from Apple, Simon Prakash. Prakash worked at Apple for 8 years and was in charge of one of the most important parts of the entire company- quality assurance and product integrity. Quality and integrity are two values that Apple has stayed true to throughout their many years of existence and Prakash definitely ensured that they maintained this high standard during his tenure at the company.
With the reputation for Apple’s products being as good as they are, he not only had a pretty tough job, but he also did a pretty good job. And with a relationship with the company that dates back almost a decade, one does have to wonder what kind of package Google offered Simon Prakash to make the jump to Google- rest assured, it was probably a fair amount of money and benefits!
Google Has Placed Simon Prakash On A Top Secret Project
Apparently Google is putting him in a top-secret project that only a few people know about. As we stated in a past article on the hiring practices of Apple, he would never be immediately placed on such a highly important project, even if he was Senior Director of a company beforehand. At the present moment, just about nobody knows what this top secret project could be inside of Google, but given how far the company has been stretching its wings recently, it’s safe to assume that it could be pretty much anything.
