HTC, who has been in the smartphone business since early on, took to Facebook to offer their intentions with the Android 4.0 OS.  Ice Cream Sandwich has been building in the background with anticipation since it was officially unveiled by Google.

First, Time Warner Cables, TWCable TV app for Android was announced and that full streaming would be available sometime in 2012 when the Ice Cream Sandwich was officially released, and now HTC is letting the mobile crowd know what devices will be updated.

HTC First Round Updates

The official statement on Facebook relayed the “first wave of HTC phones that will receive the upgrades.”  That list is as follows: the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Evo Design 4G, and HTC Amaze 4G.  All of these updates will be available in early 2012 as HTC works with the leading carriers for their products to ensure a smooth transition.

Important to note is that this is only the first wave of phones to get the update to the shiny new Ice Cream Sandwich that has a lot of positive hype behind it.  Make sure to stay tuned but you can probably bet that all of HTCs popular and high end phones will be getting the update.

More HTC Ice Cream Sandwich Updates to Follow

HTC went on to confirm that by saying “We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about the HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.”

One thing I want to know is how they came up with the latest Google/Android OS moniker, “Ice Cream Sandwich?”  We’re the execs sitting around the large table enjoying some summer “cool-me-down” treats, when it dawned on them how awesome and delicious an ice cream sandwich is?

I mean it almost seems to fit if we relate the two as being awesome, because that’s just what Google wants to instill in your brains and your mobile device.
