Much like most concept cars or just products in general, its hard to tell whether or not we will actually ever get to see them actually being used outside of an expo. However, they’re still one of the most fascinating things to follow as they often give some insight into what some of these companies are pouring money into besides their standard products.
Mitsubishi Electric is taking the creative spirit of the visionary entrepreneur and at the very same time, coming out with a semi practical concept vehicle that doesn’t need you to wear neon to look like normal riding it. At this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, Mitsubishi came out with Tron-like car but with backseats for other passengers to sit in. The company’s concept is called the EMIRAI and is also comes with a built in 3D TV and a massive curved projection display in the back as well.
Mitsubishi Concept Car Is Practical Take On Tron Design
A few weeks a go, we reported on an Italian motorcycle-maker’s concept of the Tron:Legacy motorcycle at a pretty decent $50,000 (expensive, yes, but for a bike like that…it’s worth it) and it seems like that futuristic design that incorporates a minimalistic type of design is really becoming something companies are seeking in their concept designs.
The EMIRAI’s biggest innovation, however, is said to be its biometric sensitive interface that can adjust the position of the driver/passenger’s seat based on their current heart-rate and facial temperature. Apparently, there are inherently comfortable positions depending on how fast you’re heart is beating; a huge step up from putting on your favorite radio channel when you’re feeling relaxed. There is also a touch-panel that is designed to recognize manual handwriting and a incredibly awesome set of dynamic buttons on the steering wheel that go up and down depending on the dashboard’s user-interface.
If you’re already convinced that this is the future of driving and want to get one on your hands right away…you’re definitely going to have to take a breather and realize that something like this isn’t going to come out for quite a while. The video’s narrator says that the car isn’t expected to come out for another decade, ut enjoy the video above, close your eyes and picture yourself in the EMIRAI; it’s the least you can do until then.
