Facebook has been able to stay relevant over the past years because it has developed the capability to constantly reinvent itself and add on new and exciting things that would make it difficult for anyone to try and challenge their dominance in the social media business. The prime example of this is the apps that are available to download on Facebook.
Recently Google promised a big announcement that had a lot of people pretty excited. Whenever Google says they are going to do something big, they usually are able live up to their promise. But when the time came for the “big announcement” to be made, little people were left blown away. The announcement was about the YouTube app that is available on Facebook.
Overhaul in the Works
Now Google has announced they are going to be rolling out some pretty big updates for it which will give it a fresh new look along with some interesting capabilities. YouTube is of course owned by Google TV, which explains why they, and not YouTube, are making the announcement.
The update it already received and the overwhelming majority of the changes that will be made in it will be purely aesthetic, meaning that they are simply giving an old app a new face while changing next to nothing about the app itself. It is the lack of major changes that probably prompted most people to be just a tad bit disappointed with the announcement coming from Google as they were probably hoping for something bigger and better.
The update will however, come with one small addition that isn’t in terms of looks for the app, and that happens to be a new “discover” option in the app, although Google did little to expand on what that may actually be in the original announcement, it is an option that allows you to view suggested videos by your friends.
