If you’re the year-round dedicated fitness type person, then you are probably cursing at the flood of newcomers to your local gym. Finding a treadmill or getting to any sort of equipment has become a fighting battle that has you ready to call it quits and throw in the towel (literally).
Those over at RunKeeper aren’t complaining one bit after the team behind the RunKeeper App on the Android Market felt how empowering it is to be a featured app. With the New Year brought resolutions of fitness and health, and RunKeeper got news that they’d “been featured in the Android Market’s Health and Fitness section.” Perfect timing right?
The RunKeeper app allows the use of GPS functionality to record your distance, time, pace, calories, and has a manual entry for treadmill use. The app even allows you to map out your path, like you’d see if researching directions on Google Maps.
RunKeeper App Has No Advertisements
Those who hate constant ad popups and in your face advertisements will also be pleased to know that RunKeeper does not include any advertising. The app which is available on the Android Market is also free of charge, and has seen an incredible spike in downloads.
Since being featured in the market, RunKeeper has seen a “637% increase in average daily RunKeeper Android app downloads.” The app is also now sitting in third place for the Health and Fitness category, when it was previously shuffling around in the twenties. So in a nutshell, yes – being featured is your golden ticket to exposure and overall success (given that you have a good app of course).
The recent nomination has also propelled them into the 288th spot in the entire Android App Market as well. RunKeeper Inc. believes that their success will continue to grow, and thanked all those who joined the community; expressing their motivation for fitness in 2012.
If you need help getting to the gym you might want to check out the GymPact app, but the RunKeeper app is perfect for those who want to record their distance on an un-mapped route, and track other vital statistics as they go.
